We are delighted to inform JAHF members that Ms. Sara Sumpter, who is a graduate student in Japanese Art History at the University of Pittsburgh, is this year’s winner of the Chino Kaori Memorial Essay Prize. Her winning paper is “Visualizing the Invisible: Supernatural Sight and Power in Early-Medieval Japanese Handscrolls.” Please refer to the List of winners of the annual Chino Kaori Memorial Book Prize to read her work.
